DVD Bargains of the Day…

DVDSoon.com, the Canadian firm I buy most of my DVDs from (slow service sometimes, but great prices and free shipping), is offering the stellar The Godfather DVD set–all three movies and a bonus disc of extras–for an eye-popping $30, or 72% off list. Moreover, use the code SEARCHMA05 through the 30th (tomorrow) to save 10% off that! Wow!

DVDSoon is also offering an anime set of something called The Slayers, 26 episodes, for only $16, a staggering 88% off list. Again, use the SEARCHMA05 code before Sunday to save even more. Two other Slayers collections are available at the same price and discount, so you could get all three sets at a fraction of the list price for one of them.

Amazon.com is selling the essential Outer Limits: The Original Series Season One Box Set for $38.50, 52% off list price. Amazon is generally pricier than other DVD dealers (except for a couple of huge sellers per year, like the recent Incredibles release), but definately have quick service, don’t charge tax (as some places do now), and offer free shipping for orders over $25. So in this case, $38.50 will be your final price, not forty-something after other charges have been added on.

Finally, Overstock.com has all sorts of films on sales discounted between 54 and 77%. The list can be found on today’s listings at Dvdpricesearch.com.

  • “The Slayers” is actually a pretty amusing comedy/fantasy series, judging from what little I’ve seen of it.

  • Yeah, that’s the impression I’ve gotten from fan reviews. Anyway, getting something like 80-90 episodes for under $50 is a pretty good deal, if the show’s at all good.

  • Ken, you must keep doing the DVD bargain entries. That Godfather deal was just too sweet. Thanks!

  • Yeah, I have to say, the Godfather set deal was amazing.

    Glad to help out.

Amazon does charge sales tax to those of us who live in Washington.

  • Good point. If you live in the state where the headquarters are, you are charged tax. For Amazon, I guess that’s Washington. (Either that, or it’s due to a Washington state law.)

  • Hi Ken Begg. Great blog, particularly this thing about DVD Bargains of the Day…. I’m working on some similar projects myself. You have some good ideas but unfortunately I’m struggling to get started myself. I’ve got an interest in the new live8 dvd set but ultimately I want to do something more personal. Anyway, keep up the good work, I’ll drop by again for another visit soon. Bye.

  • Hello Ken Begg. Just came across your blog whilst surfing generally, I find it very interesting. I’m trying to get a blog going on some of my sites but don’t have the patience to keep it up! Anyway, if you fancy looking at the new live 8 dvd set which is out today, it’s here.
