Perplexed in Park Ridge…

For whatever reason, I’m having trouble with adding images directly to the site rather than via linking to an offsite url.  What I’m thinking therefore is to get like a pro Flickr account ($25 a year) and keep all the photos there, and link to them.  Does anyone know of any downsides to this?  Other than Flickr going out of business and eating all my pictures and leaving the site bereft of stills.  I’ll warn you now, if that ever happens, I’m not going back and redoing them all.  It’ll all be text, baby.

Also, and I assume this is related, but WordPress no longer seems to like the long reviews we write.  That’s why I had to break up the Conquerer review on two pages, and Pip sent one in that’s requiring at least three pages. (If you try to download too much to one page, it just all disappears.)  Has anyone else experienced anything like that?

Thanks!

flickr is blocked by many web-filters, like the one at my work, so photos dont show at all.

  • That’s exactly the sort of input I wanted. Thanks!

  • Yeah, my work does the same thing, and it’s really annoying to see blank space where other people seem to see some fascinating image.

(Even more irritatingly, Firefox doesn’t make it *obvious* that there’s a missing image – it’s just blank space, and not necessarily as much of it as the photo would take up.)

  • The problem is that this is our only option until Chris can overhaul the site, which will be, at the earliest, in March. Sorry.
