Thanks for the money I just wasted…suckers!

In an effort to most effectively squander the funds you guys sent me during our recent, 10th anniversary fundraising drive, and further inspired by the intro to my recent Beach Girls and the Monster review, I just blew $50 of your hard-earned bucks ordering DVDRs of the following:

Destination Inner Space
Island of the Fish Men (the longer cut of Screamers)
Monster Shark (uncut)
Zaat
Beast of the Lake
Aatank

The last is an Indian rip-offs of Jaws. (!!)  Anyway, not all Gill Men movies, but all underwater monster movies, nonetheless.

Since these are DVDRs, I’m not sure how good the image quality will be for all of these, but I’ll let you guys know, and will probably review them all at the various length each would merit.  If you wish to fund further such valuable research, you can hit the tip jar over to the old Jabootu.com site (Paypal probably slightly better than Amazon tip jar), unless you already donated, in which case don’t, because I’m not quite so greedy as to encourage double dipping.

Also, just to keep from accumulating more junk and to eke those donations out even further, I might re-sell the DVDRs after I review them, and after I see how decent the presentations are.  If anyone think they might be interested in such at thing at maybe half-price, leave a comment.  Or leave a comment if you think I’m a dick.  It’s all good.

I almost begg (hehehe) you to review Destination: Inner Space and (Screamers) as sson as possible, especially with some good screenshots of the former.

  • I just realized I was calling *you* guys suckers, while I just ordered another ten hours of swill to wade through.

Nose effectively cut off, face not entirely spited.

The thing about reviews is, especially in these cases where I have little history with the films, I don’t have any idea how much of a piece these films will support. And moreover, the DVDRs may, or may not, provide decent screenshots.

But yeah, assuming these come in within the next couple of weeks, I expect we’ll start seeing pieces on at least some of them throughout August.

Zaat is actually known to MiSTies as The Bloodwaters of Dr. Z. So ye should get a review for that pronto.

Sargassum…the weed of deceit. And then…ATTACK!

Tidbit: The title Zaat, for those of us who have seen the film, is pronounced ‘Z sub A, A sub T’. Don’t laugh, it’s science!

If you think that title is bad, The Blood Waters of Dr. Z is even worse, since the good doctor’s name doesn’t begin with ‘z’ or even have a ‘z’ anywhere in it.

I’m all for picking up a few flicks. The really bad ones are hard to find out here. Please let me know when Jabootu’s House o’ Crap is having its clearance sale.

Man those sound really bad. Money well spent.

Hey, not to change the subject, but it’s official – Zachary Quinto will play the young Spock in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek XI prequel. This is the guy:

He looks EXACTLY like what you would expect the young Spock to look like. The eyebrows, hair, and bone structure.

The jury’s still out as to whether it will be Matt Damon bedding down the green women. The buzz is it will be though. I can’t believe they’re shooting for a 2008 Christmas release. They have not shot a single frame of this film, much less assembled a cast. How in the hell are they going to make a major motion picture in one year???

FIRST IRON MAN TEASER IS OUT!

You had to be at ComicCon…but then again, there’s always someone w/ a camera:

Monster Shark…was does that ring a bell with me?…

Anyway, I never did manage to catch the entire MST3K episode featuring ZAAT so I’d be inclined to chime in for a review of that. Plus Beast in the Lake, since I’ve never heard of it. Assuming it’s up to Jabootu’s (lack of) standards, of course.
