Not Monster of the Day #11

Yeah, how *did* they make such a terrible Indiana Jones movie? (This is before Dial of Destiny said, “Hold my beer.”)

Hey, everyone! I’m back…briefly. Off to Texas for T(ween)-Fest on Thursday. I’ll see some of you there.

Tonight's Blu-ray was Vinegar Syndrome's release of "The Seventh Curse." This is a Hong Kong martial arts film from 1988, and…I can probably just stop there, right?
Several folks (Dr Freex, Lyz of AYCYAS, for example) have already given the plot details (such as they are, and such as they…are) so I will only note that the image is awesome and the sound is very clear. Both the HK version and the "English Exported" version are on the same disk. I chose to watch the longer HK version.
I found it to be a typical "chop-socky" when people continue to punch when a gun, already available and in hand, would be more useful. As the film progresses, the usefulness of guns is underscored. I guess it has to do with "honor." There's a bit near the end where (spoiler alert) our heroes fight a bunch of orange-robed monks and, after a while, one of the heroes says "Why don't you help us instead?" and the monks say, "OK, sure. Why didn't you ask before?"
    Uh…um. There's a lot of this.
I enjoyed it. Recommended if you like these sorts of films. I'm not sure I do, but if you do–go to town!
