UPDATE: B-Fest 2011

Still haven’t heard any updates about tickets or the line-up or anything. Even so, if anyone is thinking of attending–the show itself is Fri/Sat Jan 28 & 29th–send me a note at ken@jabootu.com. Looks like a smaller crowd this year, but that has it’s charms too. Hope to see some of you there.

UPDATE: Charlotte from the A&O Film Board emailed me: “Tickets for B-Fest go on sale at 10AM January 1, and will be online only. Tickets can be purchased through the Northwestern Box Office website. The lineup has not yet been officially finalized, but when it has been it will appear on the B-Fest website.”

UPDATE 2: Charlotte’s associate Abhit sends more data: “I’m one of the co-chairs of A&O Films, and I’m responding to the e-mail you recently sent Charlotte. B-Fest tickets will go on sale online on January 1 at 10:00 a.m. They’ll be the same price as last year ($35 for the public, $20 for students). The artwork for this year’s fest will be posted on the official B-Fest website soon, and an e-mail with these same details will be sent to the mailing list shortly as well. The finalized lineup will be announced slightly closer to B-Fest, so keep an eye out for that on the website as well!”

  • Here’s a small bit of news that was posted today: Mitch O’Connell’s artwork for the B-Fest 2011 poster, based on the poster for B-Fest 2009 film The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant.

  • The Rev.

Unless I track down people who want to roadtrip, or come into a few hundred extra dollars, I’m gonna miss another one.

My only solace is I’m quite certain I’ll make it in 2012.

  • Rock Baker

    That’s a great poster!

Off topic, I just learned Larry Blamire is making a third Lost Skeleton movie! The Lost Skeleton Walks Among Us! Has this subject been brought up around here already and I missed it? Or did I manage to get in a scoop?

  • Rock Baker

And I really do love that poster. Is there any way I could get one after the show is over?

  • Rock — The past couple of years, they’ve printed the posters up as medium-sized hand outs. If they do so this year, I’ll try to grab one for you.

Mitch O’Connell has been doing the B-Fest posters for years now. His stuff is reliably fantastic.

  • Rock Baker

    Thanks, Ken!

The posters I’ve got glimpses of have all been super stuff! Some really nice art. Mitch has a good handle on likenesses, so that makes me respect him even more!

I had really hoped I was going to be able to make it this year, but at the moment it looks like I will be starting my new full-time real-world job on the 10th and I don’t think I’ll have accrued either enough time off or enough good will to take off my second Friday on the job.

(OK, mostly real-world job, actually I’ll be doing exactly the same job I would have been doing if I’d chosen to stay on active duty after finishing school, except as a civilian contractor.)

I’ll have to aim for T(ween) Fest.

  • Mr. Rational

Two good friends and I have already made our travel arrangements. So B-Fest can count on being blessed (cursed?) with my presence for a second straight year.

  • Cool, Mr. R! I assume you can grab your own tickets, since they’ll be sold online? If you need anything on our end, though, just send me a note and let me know. I’ll grab snack and bev requests from you later.

  • Mr. Rational

Yeah, we’re planning to grab our tickets first thing on New Year’s. And we’ve already made lodging accommodations. We may be bringin’ some snacks as well, to add to the communal tower. So if you can just save us three seats by the stage, we’ll be all set!

  • I hope you have a good day!
