March Portage Date / Line-up changed…

The triple bill at the Portage Theater in Chicago for March has been changed.  It will now be held on Saturday, March 14th.  I previously reported it was to be Horror of Party Beach / CHUD / Humanoids from the Deep.

Apparently they’ve pushed that back to Summer as a more appropriate time for that bill.  March will instead be a grab bag, but a pretty awesome one.   The bill, as it stands, will be

6:30 PM  Attack of the Giant Leeches

7:45 7th Voyage of Sinbad

9:00 The Mummy (Cushing, Lee)

All for ten bucks. I hope to see some of you there.

    Dammit, why can’t I live in Chicago…
    Oh, right… snow. d-:

Giant Leeches was on MST, and while I think it certainly deserved to be there’s actually some really interesting stuff in it. The idea of the leeches keeping people alive in their for days while they suck their blood is really quite disturbing…

and the poster is quite close to what you actually see in the movie too (except for the bikini that is).

Yeah, Giant Leeches had some really neat stuff in it. Personally, I quite liked the subplot with Bruno VeSota and his jailbait wife and her lover. It felt remarkably credible, and it was well acted. The bit where VeSota forces them into the swamp with a shotgun was mesmerising.

I kind of wish I could meet the man and tell him that I really enjoyed his performance in Giant Leeches The sad thing is that he’d probably assume I was being sarcastic, and belt me. Such is life.
