This week on TCM…

ALL TIMES EST!!!!

Oops, missed the fact that King Kong is playing right now. Them! is on at 10:00, though. Later tonight, the spy drama The Satan Bug with Dana Andrews is on at 1:30AM.

FRIDAY the 2nd HUMPHREY BOGART DAY!! Lots of obscure Bogart movies for his fans, running until prime time.

Swing Your Lady: Extremely rare early Bogart vehicle is a hillbilly comedy (that’s right) that was in the Medved’s original 50 Worst Films of All Time book. This is the first time I’ve ever seen it played anywhere.

Friday night: Four classic Randolph Scott Westerns (Tall T, Ride Lonesome, The Caribou, Western Union) Trail, run in a row, starting at 8:00PM.
Spider Baby 4:00AM

Great movies the rest of the week, as always, but nothing that really stood out to me. I urge anyone with TCM to check out the schedule, though.

  • The Rev. D.D.

I was fortunate enough to see the line-up, and have just spent an evening with my loved ones in giant monster movie bliss. They hadn’t seen either of these and are now very glad to have done so.

It’s been a while since I saw Them! but it was perhaps even better than I remembered. Man, those giant ants are great.

  • The Rev. D.D.

Don’t know if anyone’s gonna see this in time, but tonight (1/2/09) at 1:15 am CST they’re playing Sonny Boy with David Carradine, followed by Spider Baby with Lon Chaney Jr.

  • Sandy Petersen

When I showed THEM to my sons, I didn’t let themsee the DVD cover or the title screen. I wanted to make sure there were no ant-related spoilers. So they watched the first 15 minutes of the film not knowing what the bad guy was.

It worked like a charm. They were creeped out, couldn’t decide if it was insects or aliens, and then when they finally saw the ants they thought it was cool, and instantly commented on just how dangerous gigantic ants would be.
