Late nite on Turner Classics…

1:00 AM (CST) sees Count Yorga Vampire tonight, followed by the rarely seen uncut version of Roman Polanski’s The Fearless Vampire Killers.  I actually find the latter sort of hit and miss, but an interesting film nonetheless.

  • Blake Matthews

I thought that “FVK:OPMBYTAIMN” would a lot funnier. The only things I remember was the crucifix that didn’t work, a funny scene with Polanski trying to put the stake in the vampire’s heart, and the unexpected finale.

FVK- etc. etc. is a pretty uneven movie but I still like it a lot. Favorite line- they hold up a cross to thwart an attacker and he says in a think Yiddish accent “Boy have you got the wrong vampire!” Cheesy fun.

  • The Rev. D.D.

Thanks for the reminder! I need to set a tape tonight…I’ve only seen a bit of the latter, and none of the former.

I can’t help feeling a little creepy about seeing Sharon Tate in this film, knowing the horrible fate that was to be hers a few years later. Kind of like watching O.J.Simpson play the lovable buffoon in the Police Squad movies. Did you spot Richard III among the vampires at the party?

well, I tried to submit a comment, and it didn’t work.
