Monster of the Day #651

The guy on the right is looking for some lozenges, presumably because the other fellow has a sour cough, I guess.

Proof, anyway, that Jenson wasn’t the only Babe to explore a mummy’s tomb.

    “Hey, Abbotttttt!”

I’d reconize that pith helmet anywhere!

Ya know…mummy’s are the original Zombies, ya think about it…

  • Ken_Begg

    Nope, not Costello.

  • Ericb

Is the mummy wearing some kind of death mask or is that really his face?

  • InfiniteOnion

Curly in a three stooges short, the mummy is thanking Osiris that his film precedes the modern fart joke.

  • sandra

I wish they had painted the rest of the mummy’s hands the same colour as his false fingers.

Spot on, “We Want Our Mummy,” to be exact. Jerry Howard, aka Curly, was called Babe by his older brothers Moe and Shemp. It’s the first short to use “Three Blind Mice” as the trio’s theme music.

    D’OH!
    Right era, wrong loon.

  • “A midget mummy!” Man, how long has it been since I’ve seen this short? I was in single digits I’d imagine, no older than 10. For obvious reasons it was always a favorite of mine. But, until today, I’d almost forgotten completely about ‘ol King Rootin Tootin and the boys! Thanks, Ken, for bringing back some wonderful memories!

  • Actually, I think that “Midget mummy!” line came from “Abbott & Costello meet The Mummy”. Though they DID have a midget mummy in this one too — “No, that was his wife, Queen Hotsy-totsy. This is Rootentooten. He was a midget!”

  • I love this one, it has some great takes in it. But my favorite ‘Stooges horror’ are the ones with the flying skulls.

  • Ah! Well, like I said, I was maybe ten when I last saw it.

My biggest laugh from one of these was probably the haunted house short with the bat that had Shemp’s face….

  • “‘Yanks win World Series.’ Can you beat that?”

“Yeah, and I won five bucks!”

“Yeah? Well, I had the Cubs and WHAAAAAAAT?”
