Out next week / T-Fest…

First, it’s family trip in Kentucky time next week, so I will be absent from these precincts for that length of time. Should be back by Monday the 24th.

Sadly, neither Chris nor Freeman can attend T-Fest this time around (nor Galaxy Jane, tragically).  Sandy and I will start the programming ball rolling in earnest, I expect, once I’ve returned home. The big issue, of course, is narrowing it down from the hundreds of movies we could be showing. Patty Draut has already wiled her way into convincing Sandy to do our first Fest repeat movie, however. Those who know Patty will easily be able to figure out what that movie is.

We might also program ‘official’ Friday night and / or Sunday afternoon slates at Sandy’s house if anyone is interested, just to squeeze more movies in.

Stay sweet, everyone, and consider this an open thread whilst I’m gone.

“Because hokum has to have it’s own logic.” That is SO Ken begg.

  • Ken_Begg

Not so! That’s the work of the inestimable Kirk Draut.

not long ago in these threads, Ken was talking about a Bruno Mattei roundtable or roundhouse or something. Perhaps that would be an AWESOME theme for a T-fest.

  • Ken_Begg

Well, the advantage with Mattei is that watching one of his films seems like you’ve watched ten of them one after the other. From that standpoint…

  • Oh GOD, if the repeat movie is what I think it is, I’d better bring along a spoon to gouge out my eyes!!!

  • I can only take credit for the artwork. The tagline is from one of our email discussions, I think regarding Futureworld. I want to say either Sandy or Rich spouted that line.

  • Mr. Rational

Any chance of getting accommodations with anyone? I’m going to be a little short of cash for the next few months…can’t easily book my usual hotel room.

  • The Rev.

I can think of two candidates. However, one of those two was just shown last year. The other one was from, I think, the first T-Fest, which means I haven’t seen it.

If it’s the latter one, I’m already afraid…

In related news, I’ve actually finally started my TwF2K12 write-up, with the aim of getting it to Ken in time to post before T-Fest, along with the very delayed TF2K11 one. I will then make it my top goal to have this year’s T-Fest write-up done within a week of the actual Fest, so it’ll actually be relevant for a change.

  • Sandy Petersen

well, it’s likely you can sleep at my place if instead of sleeping you watch terrible movies all night long with us. We have two spare bedrooms, neither of which are ever taken by Ken, who is apparently feral, and prefers to prowl at night. We also have a whole big attic available for sleeping.

  • kgb_san_diego

When is T-Fest again? From previous threads, I thought it was in late October, maybe the 20th? But y’all are talking about it like it is this week or next? Sorry, can someone help out a befuddled older mind? :-)

  • The Rev.

Unless something changed, it’s the 20th.

  • The Rev.

That’s probably a better offer than mine, which would be, “Hey, want to sleep on my couch? Hope you’re not allergic to cats…”

  • existoid

for a second I thought you were saying you were going to send him the 2012 T-Fest writeup before T-Fest! that would really be a feat!

  • The Rev.

It would probably make my life easier if I could do that.

  • Mr. Rational

Wait. I could sleep at your place, only I could substitute sleep for many many more bad movies?

And you thought it was POSSIBLE for me to turn that down? :)

  • Mr. Rational

Unfortunately, the answer to that would be “yes, terribly.”

  • Sandy Petersen

I have a small mongrel dog which will probably attempt to sleep in the same bed with you (she has done so with other visitors). If you are allergic to mutts as well as pussies, my house is a poor choice.

  • Sandy Petersen

for my birthday I got a bunch more Bruno Mattei movies, Ken. I look forward to watching every single one of them with you.

  • Sandy Petersen

go ahead and do it. Your writeup will be as accurate as the average New York Times editorial.

  • Mr. Rational

Not allergic to dogs, oddly enough. Just cats. It’s my only allergy. It’s a shame, because I’d actually love a low-maintenance sort of pet, and most of the cats I know would fit the bill nicely.

  • Ken_Begg

    Yes, it’s Funky Forest.

  • Chad R.

I’m in for Robot da guerra.

  • The Rev.

That can’t be it; no one would request a repeat performance of that thing.
No, I think we all know what Patty requested…and are properly terrified.

  • This needs to be on a T-shirt.
