IMPORTANT: T-Fest venue unconfirmed….

Sandy just informed me that the location of this year’s event is still being hashed out. Sadly, it looks like the Barking Lizards offices will most likely NOT be available. Chances are that the Fest will be relocated to Sandy’s house in Rockwall, outside of Dallas.  The date remains a week from Saturday (!), October 20th. The movies usually kick off around 10 in the morning, and run until midnight, give or take an hour. Per usual, there will be seven movies and a shorts slot, with a long dinner break for yakking and such.

Much of the line-up is determined, and I’ll post everything once it’s all done.

Sorry about any confusion, I will post the definitive info as soon as we have it. Anyone needing Sandy’s address and cell phone number can email me at ken@jabootu.com.

  • Good a place as any to say this, since I didn’t get an answer on the proper post: Seriously, who would you have cast as Hal Jordon?

  • Ken_Begg

Hmm. Timothy Oliphant, I guess. Hal Jordan is pretty straight laced.

  • I’m at a disadvantage because I’ve been away from the modern movie scene long enough to not really know who’s in the current crop of actors. As memory serves, Reynolds did well in the part despite the scripting class writing. Ultimately, I enjoyed the film. I think it might not have tanked as badly had it not suffered one of the worst advertising campaigns in recent history.

I did just see Reynolds in SAFE HOUSE, and the man CAN act. He’s no James Mason or anything, but I watched the entire movie without really noticing it was the same guy who was wearing green cartoon tights.

Actually, you’re probably more likely to find good actors on TV shows these days, especially the cable ones.

My problem with Ryan, again, isn’t so much with Ryan, as with Warners. I think the casting was probably the least of their issues, though. The trailer for the movie looked horrible, and the general consensus was that it was pretty accurate.

So if the Fest is at Sandy’s house, would it still be available lodging? And should I contact Sandy directly about that?

And while we’re at it, who DID put the ram in the ram-a-lam-a-ding-dong?

  • Ken_Begg

Yes, lodging is still available. Although be warned that I’m lobbying Sandy that, given that the Fest would be there anyway, we just make guests stay up all Friday night watching movies as an appetizer.

I’ll check with Sandy and secure you a spot, if you’d like.

  • Mr. Rational

Please do. I’ll send you an e-mail too.

  • We could have the dinner break at Snuffer’s.

  • Ken_Begg

You’re covered, my friend. Sandy promises at the bare minimum floor space for all. You might want to bring a sleeping bag or air mattress if you have one; it all depends on how many folks take him up on his offer.

  • Ken_Begg

I don’t know. Isn’t that the new Fuad Ramses place?

On the other hand, I heard it got a Michelin star.

If you need more room can’t Sandy open a portal to another dimension???
