Deal OVER

Today Amazon is selling the first and second seasons of Torchwood on DVD and Blu Ray for 58% off. While supplies, and the day, lasts.

Also, for the next couple of days Amazon is selling Firefly on DVD for $17.50, or a whopping 68% off list. I assume everyone here who wants a copy already has one, but at that price it’s not a bad stocking stuffer, and the holidays will be here before you know it.

Ah, Torchwood- I watched about half the first season and finally gave up on it. Geeeze stop complaining about your personal problems and bonking each other and fight some aliens! More SF and less soap opera please! Or at least that’s my take.

I tried to watch it, but the monster in the coveralls just got to me. Basically a guy with a rubber mask, couldn’t they bother to come up with an actually costume?

Honestly, Season 3 is well worth watching although, IMHO, one of our main characters crosses the moral event horizon so thoroughly by the end that I hope they will end the series there and not try for anything further as it would weaken what went before. Season 1 was mostly just dumb T&A and I would suggest that any Who fan would be better served by any random episode of the Sarah Jane Chronicles.

Season 2? No clue, haven’t been able to sit through it yet. So far I have only been able to muster about a 15 minute attention span before stopping the playback and coming back to it (days, weeks) later, an awful slow way to get throught even a short British TV season.

FYI, all 3 seasons are available on Netflix On Demand. I have been using my ROKU box to watch them on the TV screen.

“Ah, Torchwood- I watched about half the first season and finally gave up on it.”

A few more episodes than I managed; I quit after the third episode. John Barrowman is just too smirky and charmless to base a whole series around.
