Avatar at Amazon…

Amazon isn’t always your best bet for DVD prices, but it usually trumps everyone on the big releases.

If you have a Blu Ray player, this seems the sort of movie you’d buy in that format.  Amazon is selling the $40 two-disc set for $24.99 (sadly, one cent short of free shipping), or 38% off the list price.

The regular DVD is 43% off, $16.99 in lieu of the $30 list.

The discs will be released, and mailed, next week.

I was underwhelmed by the film, so I’ll pass, but thanks for the head’s-up.

  • Gristle McThornbody

Is that an old movie? I’ve not heard of it…

    ;)

  • BC–Boy, a film tries to engage your intellect and you just shut down, don’t you?

  • BeckoningChasm

Duuuuh, what? Engage my WHUT? Are you talkin’ dirty to me or somethin’? BC NOT UNDERSTAND!

  • P Stroud

I’m just very impressed with Jabootu’s ability to completely dominate virtually the entire movie industry.

  • Matt B

Target’s actually a better choice, Ken. The DVD is $15.99 and the Blu/DVD combo will be $19.99 when it’s released. You’ll pay tax (and Amazon will likely price match Target’s price) but unless you’ve got Prime or are ordering something else to go along with it, shipping will make Amazon higher priced.

  • But in the end, you’ll still wind up with a copy of Avatar sitting on your shelf, depressing you for years to come.

  • BeckoningChasm

Sandy, that’s an incredibly sad image. I may have to draw that picture.

  • Mr. Blue

I wonder, what if, instead of “Ferngully: Dances with Smurfs” they had used all that know how to make a good version of “The Mote in God’s Eye”?

You got your aliens, you got your cool ships, and some real moral dillemas/ culture clashes… it could be great.

  • Mr. Blue: Yeah, well, I have a feeling for Cameron that the nearly three billion dollars the movie made trumps your concerns about ‘good movie-making.’ Same as with Titanic.

  • I just watched the 1946 version of The Killers, with Burt Lancaster. Man that’s a crackerjack plot.

  • So…it thus reminded you of Avatar?

  • BeckoningChasm

I watched a made-for-TV movie called “Cutesie: The Kitten who Loved First Base.” You wouldn’t believe me if I told you who the special guest stars were.
