Congrats to Carl Fink…

Jabootu’s proofreading czar, when he isn’t attempting to drain the swamps here, is a technical writer. This month he has an article in the April 2010 issue of Linux Journal:

Honestly, the programming many of us are exposed to all have their GUI pieces on the Web. Carl Fink shows us how to use Flex Builder to make Flash applications—in Linux! Adobe’s Flash is cross-platform, but often creating those applications requires Windows or OS X. With Flex Builder, that’s no longer the case. Add Adobe’s AIR technology, and even standalone applications can be created while never leaving the penguiny comfort of Linux.

I have no friggin’ idea what any of that means, but maybe you do. Anyway, pick up a copy if you’re a hardcore computer geek.

Wow, that does sound impressive. I know Linux folks have been wanting Flash for some time. (I know enough about Linux to spell it and that’s about all.)

  • I…, I use Frontpage.

    *Blushes* *Shuffles away embarrassed*

I can just about be trusted to use a mouse safely.

    Congrats Carl!

Hmmm, I’m a Linux geek but I read “Linux Format”. Might have to check out “Linux Journal”.

  • That is indeed impressive… I’ve been a Flash user on Windows for ten years, and I’ve personally witnessed the anguish of Linux users who were “shut out” of using Flash. Nice going Carl!

“Carl Fink shows us how to use Flex Builder to make Flash applications—in Linux!”

Is that really exciting enough to warrant an exclamation point?

  • The Rev. D.D.

    I say yes!

    But I’m easily excited.

  • Rock Baker

If you can honestly understand all that, you have my full respect and admiration. But then, I’m a comic book artist so it doesn’t take much technological savvy to impress me. Take my respect for whatever you think its worth!

  • Naturally this is the one week I don’t keep up with Ken’s blog.

    Thanks for the kind words.

As for the bang–the current editorial policy at LJ is to be really excited about things, it would seem.
