Five film Universal marathon…

Got a ten spot in your pocket and want to spend it wisely? On Saturday, Feb 27th at Chicago’s historic Portage Theater, the Time Tunnel Toys guys will be presenting an incredible five Universal classics for ten bucks:

Dracula
Frankenstein
The Wolf Man
The Creature From the Black Lagoon
The Mummy’s Hand

That’s pretty sweet. The show starts at 4:00 and should run until around midnight.

Are they showing them in chronological order? Since I’ve seen all of them, it would be cool to see what kind of themes, etc, (if any) are carried from one film to the next by seeing them in one day. (I can’t go, of course…)

The Mummy’s Hand seems a bit out of its league on that list. I guess that’s why it’s being shown last.

  • Yeah, but since The Mummy is largely a remake of Dracula, and since it (mostly) doesn’t feature the ‘Mummy’ as people think of him, it’s not a bad choice. One reason I think Universal is ahead of Hammer is that Hammer’s lesser movies can be pretty bad, but Universal’s junkier movies remain pretty fun. I think the Mummy movies for both studios illustrates this point.
