Amazon is selling a bunch of Criterions and other DVDs for very nice discounts right now, with prices in the 60% range. These include nice sets for Evil Deads 1 & 2 (assuming anyone doesn’t already own those.) However, I have to strongly push Criterion’s fabulous sets for Fritz Lang’s The Testament of Dr. Mabuse and the two-disc edition of his Peter Lorre-starring masterpiece M (legitimately one of the 100 greatest films ever), which actually prove to take place in a shared universe. Michael Powell’s Peeping Tom is also on sale, and a whole lot more. And although it’s hard for me to believe that nobody owns this (along with M), if you don’t have The Third Man on your shelves, well, damn.
A full list of the items on sale can be found in today’s listing box on DVDpricesearch.com. Many, many terrific films are available. Lots of Fellini, sets for both Bava and Argento, lots of Michael Powell, Herzog, etc.
