Monster of the Day #3242

It’s not a classic by any means, but Queen of Space Blood has it’s points of interest, including a supporting turn by Dennis Hopper, one of those embarrassing “cut in” cameos by Basil Rathbone, and of course John Saxon. Also arguably the original version of Lifeforce.

  • I think you could make a better claim for it being a proto Alien or a remake of It! Terror from Beyond Space. Very little time is spent in Lifeforce with the vampire on the ship. Lifeforce would be more Quatermass Xperiment to my mind.

Actually…it’s Queen of Blood. Zha Zha’s not in this one :)

    Dennis is thinking “softserve”.

  • I always argue that Lifeforce is really a Quatermass flick for the 80s, and seen in that light it is actually pretty successful. I’ve never understood the opprobrium it gets as I’ve always thought it was pretty good flick if taken on its own terms. I was pretty surprised the first time I watched it, given the reputation.

Well, our standards might be different from that of the norms, and it was expensive enough that they really needed a mainstream Star Wars sort of audience.

    Standards?!?!! We have standards???

Personally I don’t know about you guys but one glance at my Blu-Ray/DVD collection proves I have no standards or taste at all…

Same here. Anyone who’s proud of having The Car, Race with the Devil, Prophecy: A Monster Movie, and the like in their DVD collection has little enough taste. Yet I’d rather watch any of them than most of the modern ‘A’ films.
