Monster of the Day #3261

Sandy Petersen, in his YouTube video on Nazi zombies, gave Frankenstein’s Army a thumb’s up. It has lots of monsters in it, and hey, look, guys in suits. I haven’t seen it, but it looks like it would be a good double bill with whichever Puppet Master movie that was that took place in Nazi Germany.

It’s a lot of fun, though it can get kind of gross. Biggest mark against it is, you guessed it, it’s a found footage movie.

That would be Puppet Master III. Probably the best in the series. Which is surprising considering it was a David DeCoteau film. Sadly that wasn’t the case when he came back for the first of the Axis trilogy. Although it was still better than the next one, which Charles Band himself directed. That one was bad enough that I never watched the last one, which Band also directed.

Anyway, I’ll have to put this one on The List. I do like the look of this chap.

Is this “Frankenstein’s Army” or “Army of Frankenstein’s” (2014)?

  • Ken_Begg

Oops, I’m sure you’re correct. I should have checked rather than relying on my porous memories of Sandy’s video from several weeks ago.

I don’t know. AOF seems to be a time traveling Frankenstein’s monsters being sent back to fight in the civil war! It does not seem to involve Nazis or found footage.

  • Just based on this suit, I’m in.

Yeah, that costume is pretty awesome!

So does this break the rule- Nazi zombie movies are terrible (well other than ‘Shock Waves’)? I respect Sandy’s taste – well most of the time. ;)

  • The Rev.

The Dead Snow movies are also pretty good.

Thanks! Forgot about that one but I have heard good stuff about it.
