Wow!

It looked like a disastrous evening. With the (barely) second place Brewers having won and having ourselves blown a lead, and then falling behind again after re-tying it up, the Cubs went into the ninth inning two runs behind. However, Theriot took a walk, Lee got a single, Ramirez hit a triple to tie the game, and DeRosa got just enough of the ball to bring in the winning run. Eleven games left (13 for Milwaukee, I fear), but we’re still a game ahead. It’s the slimmest of leads, but a win like tonight gives you hope.

Wish me luck tomorrow (Tuesday night). I bought a dozen tickets five months ago, and myself and a bunch of work friends are going down to watch Zambrano pitch in the middle of a pennant chase. Go Cubs!

Is this baseball? The best baseball team is, for obvious reasons, the one called the [red]Reds[/red]

Perhaps the Cubs are turning into the old Red Sox, you know, they won’t be an awful team but will be good enough to get your hopes up only to crush them right at the point when you think they will take it all.

Yes, in professional baseball terms, this is what is called “the Cubs.”

The Cubs’ remaining schedule is against lousy teams, while the Brewers’ remaining schedule is against good teams. It’s lookin’ good for the Cubs. I expect them to win the division.
