Monster of the Day #881

As noted previously, I’m a tad distracted right now, and I have a ton more of these Samson covers in place, so we’ll go with them again. They are pretty sweet.

This is a reprint of the cover for issue #7, used as the cover of the first of the Dark Horse Archive reprint books. Hence the extra nice print quality. The original cover text read “KILLER BEASTS ATTACK SAMSON IN N’YARKS’ LOST UNDERWORLD.”

  • Flangepart

Mutant star nose mole beast. Wonder if Sy-Fy will use THAT beastie?

  • bgbear_rnh

after all, his cousins the Killer Shrews got a film so why not?

  • bgbear_rnh

    OMG! Tom Servo noooooo!

  • Gamera977

I thought the monster was cute till I saw how the bastard had decapitated poor Tom Servo- ‘MAKE IT SUFFER SAMSON!!!’

  • Flangepart

    RICHARD BASEHART!…

  • Rock Baker

A giant reptilian mole with eye lasers! The comic book muscle men went up against some creatures their cinematic counterparts never could’ve dreamed of!

  • Marsden

Does anybody else think of Cyclops when they look at Samson’s ruby quartz shades?

  • Luke Blanchard

The layout of the cover resembles that of FORBIDDEN WORLDS #81 from 1959.

  • Luke Blanchard

The MIGHTY SAMSON cover is another one that anticipates imagery from a later film, as the comic is from 1966 and there’s a wrecked subway sequence in BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES (1970).
