Monster of the Day #734

One more of these beauties, you can’t waste ’em. You have to love the eclectic tastes the Baker boys have in choosing their subjects. I can only assume they will complete the pair and do Tennessee Tuxedo next.

I actually have a copy of this movie floating around somewhere, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it. I’ll have to dig that out.

  • Gamera977

Ahhhh, that’s one Japanese monster movie I still haven’t seen (sniff). Great work as usual on all the detail there, I love the feet and flippers.

  • Flangepart

Had to see an original print copy to get that scene. GORATH is a fun flick.
And having just seen some PACIFIC RIM stuff on Youtube…yeah, I’m feelin’ good.

  • Eric Hinkle

That’s the GORATH monster, right? Odd we never saw Walrusasaurus fight it out with Godzilla.

  • bgbear_rnh

I am only going to ask for my bucket back once

  • Rock Baker

Yep. He also appears on an episode of ULTRA-Q. I’m not sure why Kyle picked a monster so few Americans have ever seen, but it’s the one he wanted to do! He did learn, though, that quadruped monsters are more of a pain than a pleasure. He nearly collapsed doing the walk through in the parade!

  • Rock Baker

Thanks a heap, Ken, for this honor! Let me know if you ever want to do a week of monsters from the Dinosaur Girl strip!

  • Ken_Begg

Ultra Q is coming out on an official American release next month.

  • Ken_Begg

    Ha, I shall!

  • Rock Baker

Just tell me they’re including that one dubbed episode as an extra!

  • Flangepart

Air holes in the neck! Tradition!

  • Eric Hinkle

Hey, the obscure monstrosities need love too. And he looks great.

  • The Rev.

…Ken, I swear to all that is unholy, if you are joking about that, I will hurt you. It would be too cruel.

If you’re not…then first, I want to know how I’ve missed this news prior, and second, the releasers need to shut up and take my money.

  • The Rev.

HyperGodzilla is probably still my favorite (IT BLINKS!!!!), but this nearly edges it just for the fact that I have not seen anyone do a Magma suit before. Magnificent.

As mentioned, the suit reappears as Todora, a monster from another dimension, in Ultra Q episode 27. It sounds like it’s similar to “The Odyssey of Flight 33” from The Twilight Zone, except instead of flying over a dinosaur and 1939 America they end up in a cloud and have to run from a giant walrus monster.

  • Ken_Begg

I’m hoping to snag it free for my 50th birthday later this year. I’ve nudged it by making it the only “highest” item.

  • The Rev.

Holy shit, you’re turning 50??? I knew you were older than myself, but for some reason I thought you were in your mid-40s. I gotta say, you don’t look it, buddy!

  • Ken_Begg

All the fat pressing out keeps wrinkles from developing. Next…on Dr. Oz!

  • Rock Baker

Most of them do blink, actually, since that feature went over so big with Godzilla. Magma here is just about the only one of the G-Fest costumes not to blink, because it was built for simplicity. The mouth movements are controlled by Kyle bobbing his head back and forth!

  • The Rev.

Well, that was the first one I saw blink; plus, it’s Godzilla.
