Monster of the Day #633

I suppose it’s obtuse to critique a series on the very things that made it popular, but surely the ongoing toilet humor overrode the appeal of the goofy monsters for  a lot of us. Even so, they got four flicks out of this skein, the same as the superior Critters series, and for what it’s worth, the Ghoulies flicks are better than Munchies. So they had that going for them.

That’s kind of like saying “Diarrhea is better than dysentery.”

  • Okay, advice taken. Avoid MUNCHIES like the plague. Thank you.

I haven’t seen any of these movies, save a couple of bits from the second one, which I recognize a couple of this week’s shots from (this one included). I did see the last 15 minutes of it a year or so ago; it was actually pretty cool. I kind of felt bad for the little bastards with what happens to them. Like this poor guy, who was pounded flat.

While we’re avoiding things, avoid Hobgoblins, too. It’s… not good

The MST3K version is on YouTube. Pretty good stuff except at end where the guys get into a pretty mean-spirited and childish trashing of the director.

Haven’t seen any of them except the first ‘Critters’. Guess I haven’t missed that much. I do remember very clearly the ad campaign with the Ghoulie in the toilet though.
