“My son-in-law the vegetable. Come here, ya big lug!”

An ‘off Broadway’ production of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS mayhaps?

  • Flangepart

son-in-LAY? Dag nab it, where’s the edit feature?

Speaking of plant monsters, has anyone seen The Ruins?  Is it worth a netflix order?

  • Hell yeah! Buck Kartalian, graphic sex and raunchy humor.

  • SteveWD

Sure, if for no other reason than to just make up your own mind about it.  Some people really seem to like it.  I’m not one of the them but give it a shot.  The characters are just so unlikeable and annoying I found myself ‘rooting’ for the plants.  Plus, it’s hard to get too worked up when the whole problem could be solved with a bottle of Round Up.  For “serious” killer plant movies I’ll still take Day of the Triffids.

  • That’s a lot more colorful than it looked in the beat up preview I saw on the Extra Weird disk (although it seems like that may have been turning red. It had certainly seen better days -I didn’t notice before that the plant had eyelashes). So odd to think that THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS would serve as the inspiration for a sex movie. It’s not the candidate I would have imagined.

I remain torn on whether to get a copy of PLEASE DON’T EAT MY MOTHER or not. Goofy obscure killer plant flick on the one hand, Harry Novak sex movie on the other. Just not sure I want to wade that far out. I fast forwarded through his SPACEMAN movie and was fairly appalled (I hate dirty movies that focus more on the act of sex than simple bare flesh, is that really what people are paying to see? I thought the lure of porn was all about naked women, and nothing more complex than that). The Nudies are one thing, but I’m not sure yet I want to go this far in my weird cinema studies. I DID enjoy FLESH GORDON, but I’m betting that film is a rare exception in the field.

  • I am always glad to see monsters that make Classic Doctor Who monsters look like pitch perfect CGI.

  • The Rev.

That’s been my impression re: Flesh Gordon, although I can’t give my opinion as I’ve not seen it.

From what I’ve heard, there’s a couple scenes that are exceptionally gruesome, which should probably be kept in mind.

I’m not much for porn myself, but my understanding is that those who like it want to see the sex act because they can imagine themselves as one of the actors.

It says something about my worldview that I hardly classify images of naked women as “porn.” I think I’ve been on the Internet too long.
