Monster of the Day #437

That stupid A-Ha video is *totally* ripping me off!*

[*Note: He’s just saying that because he’s angry. The video is awesome.]

I always liked this movie.  But then I generally liked Ken Russell’s stuff.  Also, I think South Park ripped it off too.

  • Ericb

Wasn’t this basically just an uncredited remake of Monster on the Campus?

  • Beckoning Chasm

You could say that, but you could say MOTC was just Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with more plaid shirt.

  • Gamera977

Gee whiz, I was thinking this was the early ’80s movie ‘Altered States’  :(

  • Chad R.

Isn’t it?  That looks like William Hurt’s final transformation to me.

  • Flangepart

Looks it to me. Has that ‘unfinished clay sculpture’ look al-righty.

  • Gamera977

I thought it was ‘Altered States’ at first but then I got the impression from BC & Eric I was wrong.

Maybe I’m wrong about being wrong… or something like that.

Please excuse me while I get my medication….

Er, I’m pretty totally positive this IS “Altered States.”

Which means I’m guessing this week’s theme is “Scientists Gone Too Far!”

It’s on the shelf just behind the shelf with “Girls Gone Wild!,” “Girls With Low Self-Esteem!,” “Families With Low Self-Esteem!,” and “Never-Nude: It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way, a Video Guide.”

fwiw- I did the same thing with the first post. Funny, I never associated Altered States with Ken Russell, and his stylistic fingerprints didn’t seem to be all over it (if I recall correctly), but gave the old IMDB a gander and yup that was his.
