B-Movie Celebration in Indiana, Sep 23-25

They’ve been running this for several years now, it’s a BIG event where they show tons of movies in theaters. You can’t see them all, though, because they basically run at a number of venues simultaneously, meaning in that some cases you must choose among two or three movies which one you want to see. I’ve never gotten out there, but it certainly is tempting. Look at their line-up this year:

Further info can be found at their website. Has anyone ever gone to one of these? I’d certainly be interested in their thoughts.

Dang it, we’ve got a conference to run that week. Boo.

  • Rock Baker

Night of the Demon? Do they mean Curse of the Demon, or some obscure Bigfoot movie I think I’ve heard of.

    Francis the Talking Mule?

Day of the Triffids! How did that get on the list? I thought it was regarded as a minor classic. I guess technically it was a B picture, but it was a pretty lush B picture. What gives?

  • Mr. Rational

Wow, I wanna go so badly. But I can’t afford it, alas. My movie budget is always used up by saving for B-Fest, making sure I have enough money for T-Fest and Tween-Fest, and my (soon-to-be-slashed) Netflix monthly fee.

    Say, Ken…when IS T-Fest this year? :)

  • Why, T-Fest is exactly one month from today, Mr. R! More to come shortly.

  • Mr. Rational

One month from today?! I might actually have MONEY by then! WOO-HOO!

    :::does the Capitalist Dance:::

  • Mr. R — Check with Sandy, he might be able to put you up for the night to save you money that way.

  • The Rev.

Rock: There is an ’80s killer Bigfoot movie called Night of the Demon. I haven’t seen it, but I understand it’s basically a slasher movie with Bigfoot as the slasher, and some pretty nasty setpieces. El Santo has a review at his site.

A few of those I haven’t heard of. Most of the ones I haven’t heard of sound like fairly new ones. Like Dino Wolf, which sounds like a Sabertooth-type movie.

I’d love to see Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires on the big screen. I haven’t seen that since TNT ran it at 3 in the morning many, many moons ago.

  • My top ten on that list:

    Angry Red Planet
    Atomic Submarine
    Fright Night
    Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Legend of The 7 Golden Vampires
    Night of The Comet
    Son Of Blob
    Ticks
    Twins of Evil Documentary
    Varan The Unbelievable
    Village of The Damned

I’m assuming they’re showing the real VotD, not the horrible remake.

  • Rock Baker

I’m impressed in that case, since bigfoot movies tend to be weirdly obscure (come to think of it, its been years since I’ve even seen the much more mainstream Harry and the Hendersons).

I’d certainly be game to see Atomic Submarine, Angry Red Planet, Beach Blanket Bingo, Day of the Triffids, etc. on a big screen. Not like I’ll be going, but I wonder how bad the audience will be with things like talking back to the screen….
