Sad, sad story: RIP Yvette Vickers…

In a grisly story, the nearly mummified body of early Playboy Playmate and movie starlet Yvette Vickers, a cult icon for her highly effective slattern roles in Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman and Attack of the Giant Leeches, was found in her Beverly Hills home. The condition of the body suggests she may have died as long as a year ago. Ms. Vickers was 82 at the time of her death.

RIP Yvette. So sad that you had to spend your last years alone.

  • The Rev.

That’s terrible. What a lonely way to go.

    Rest well, madam.

I hope the afterlife is treating her far better than this one…RIP…

This is so sad. Nobody should die in loneliness.

  • It is. And it’s frankly baffling. Even if she had her utility bills set on autopay, it’s astounding in today’s world that she could lay dead in a house in Beverly Hills for up to a year before she was found. Not as gruesome as the murder of Al Adamson, but a sad passing nonetheless.

I met Yvette at a film show about ten years ago. She had expanded as she aged, so I saw no hint of the whisp of a woman who was able to sway William Hudson away from Allison Hayes, but what a sweetheart she was! Of the celebrities I’ve managed to meet, she was one of the most charming and warm people on the face of this planet. I asked her to sign a poster book I had with me that was filled with big glossy reprints of movie posters. She eagerly signed the 50ft Woman poster for me, and seemed to be truely awed with how nicely the posters had been reprinted. I only met with her for about four minutes or so, but I felt like I had an instant friend. She was such a lovely lady, I can’t believe she went missing for a year with no one coming by to check on her. It’s a little late now, but goodbye, Yvette. God bless you and Rest in Peace.
