I guess this guy really doesn’t like Zapped.

A pretty funny piece–comedy is other people’s pain–from one of my very favorite movie websites.

That sure is a dumb idea for a movie. I can’t believe they managed to get 90 minutes out of that concept. I wonder what Bible Man would say?

So its like an 80s version of a nudie cutie? You can certainly argue over the morality of such a picture, but I’ve seen less violent reactions to Larry Buchanan movies! I guess the saddest part of all this is that I’d probably watch Zapped if I had a copy on hand and needed a filler for my weekend movie shows. (I doubt I’ll activley track down a copy, but I can see myself picking one up if I found it really cheap and needed to fill out some ‘five-movies-for-one-dollar’ deal.)

When I went to pick up my car at the local Firestone a few weeks ago, this was playing on the TV in the waiting area. I was just surprised that it apparently had enough staying power to still be turning up on cable at this late date.

Well, Netflix has the original, but not Zapped Again. Part of me really wants to get this, just to see how bad it really is. Netflix figures I’d give it 2.5 stars. I don’t know if that says something about me or not.

Incidentally, I really with Netflix would let me give halves.

Ha, ha! GalaxeyJane took her car to Firestone!Watching a Scot Baio movie and getting ripped off by auto mechanics. Good times!

None of you have seen Zapped!?

    I feel old.

  • The Rev. D.D.

By the time I had cable I was outside of the target age range for this movie, I think, and I’ve never bothered with it. Nothing I’ve read about it is liable to change that.

  • In Baio’s defense, he was willing to admit on Twitter that he didn’t love paying his taxes, a position I sympathize with.

I remember seeing Zapped numerous times on HBO “back in the day”. It was mainly because I was at that age when any glimpse of naked women was almost awe-inspring…a wondrous, tantalizing experience for a young man that could not be missed. :)

It’s quite possibly the finest entry in the Scott Baio/Willie Ames canon. But does that really mean anything?

  • GalaxyJane

I remember thinking it was an OK flick when I caught it on cable back in the day. I’m pretty sure the only reason I watched it was that I was still fascinated by any sci-fi that purported to be about “psychic powers”. Um, yeah. I’d say I probably wasn’t the target audience, what with the boobs and all, but, then again, considering how Scott Baio was still being touted as a teen idol, maybe I was.

And my Firestone is actually not too bad, if only because they are located directly on a military post and would lose the business tout-de-suite if they started pulling the stunts unfortunately common to so many mechanics.
