Godzilla movies in Chicago…

Every year we get G-Fest here (and this year there should be a lot of buzz, what with the newly announced Godzilla movie), and even better, they show movies in the huge, historic and highly gorgeous Pickwick Theater that I grew up attending, and which lies about two hundred feet from where I work every day.

This year they’re going all out on the movie front, with FOUR Godzilla movies on Thursday, July 8th: Son of Godzilla (YAY!), Godzilla vs. Mothra, Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla vs. Megaguirus.

Friday late night will feature Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster (YAY!), and Saturday late night a showing of the 1954 Godzilla.

Beat that!

What, they’re leaving out the Emmerich Godzilla?!? Oh wait, that’s a good thing.

  • which version of the 1954 Godzilla? I showed my son the way longer original Japanese cut (sans Perry Mason) and we both agreed it was fantastic.

  • It’s vague, but I’m assuming the Japanese version, because they say its from 1954, and Godzilla, King of the Monsters is from 1956.

Either way, it’s going to be a great weekend.
