This Week on DVD (02/09/10)…

I never got around to posting last week’s DVD releases (Feb 9th’s stuff).  Meanwhile, tomorrow is National Black Dynamite Day, so I thought I should clear the decks first.  Fire up your Netflix / Blockbuster / Red Box / Library lists, or even your credit card, if something especially grabs your fancy.

TV:

Army Wives S3; Davey & Goliath Vol 1; Gary Unmarried S1; JAG S10; JAG The Complete Series; Naruto Shippuden Vol 6; The Patty Duke Show S2; Sarah Silverman Program S2, Vol 2; Second Sight (Clive Owen); Stargate Universe S1, Vega$ S1

On the documentary front we have The Ultimate Dambusters Collection, which covers those bouncy bombs the Brits made in WWII to blow up some Nazi dams.

Films:

Vintage Eurosleaze of the Week:

Satan’s Wife Another Italian Exorcist rip-off 1979
Desirable Teacher 1981 An Italian flick that sounds like pretty much exactly what you’d think it was.
Sex Advice No info, but hazard a guess here.
Blade of the Ripper A giallo.

Sony gives us The Bad Girls of Film Noir Sony Vol 1 & Vol 2, with four obscure noir flicks on each set.  Expect at the very least some good transfers of some solid studio flicks.

A Dangerous Man Steven Seagal returns to the DTV shelves with his first movie in well over a month.  I think he’s dangerous here because he saw somebody else eyeing the last slice of meat lover’s pizza.

Forest Warrior This is an enviro-action flick with, if I’m remembering correctly, Chuck Norris playing a (possibly supernatural?) woodland protector.  That’s got to be good for a laugh or two.

Hardwar Wars  The first and probably still the greatest Star Wars parody.  You know you have lived a long time when you remember hearing in theaters the line, “You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll kiss three bucks goodbye.”  Three bucks!

King Lear Orson Welles  Nuff said!

Midgets vs. Mascots (Rated and Unrated)  A little something for Andrew Borntreger.  Stars Gary Coleman.  It’s described as “Borat meets Jackass.”

Polar Storm  Blah blah earth’s in danger…

Shock Festival 3-disc set of exploitation trailers, etc.  Sounds like different stuff than is found on the essential 42nd Street discs.

Shoot First and Pray You Live  Recent stab at a pseudo-Spaghetti Western.

XIII The Conspiracy Stephen Dorf, Val Kilmer  I mostly put this up because I’m a dick and wanted to point out that Val Kilmer is now a second banana in Stephen Dorf movies.

Cheesy Flix releases Rareflix Triple Feature Vol 5, featuring Centerfolds from Hell, Voodoo Doll and Madonna.

Direct to Video Horror:

Dead Tone, as presented by Flavor Flav’s NiteTales.  It is “Based on True Events.”

Lo

Night of the Flesheaters

9 Lives of Mara  Another DTV Lovecraft Dealie.

  • Reed

You’re slipping Ken. An actual (presumably exploitation) movie named Madonna and no associated joke?

  • Madonna is, surely, enough of an associated joke herself, isn’t she?
