Monster of the Day #3655

For a skeleton it looks a little ‘tubby.’

(Still got it.)

Off to work, then cat-sitting. Well, putting out cat food five or six times.

Have a great weekend, everyone. Watch something stupid in 2025! Watch Party next Friday.

I no doubt read the Chandler story.

Be nice to the cats, they will return the favor.

Race Williams and Keyhole Kerry? I've seen their stories getting reprinted by Steeger Books. Maybe I should pick up some of those books.

Oh, and if it matters to anyone, Steeger Books just reprinted the September 1929 issue of Black Mask, which includes the very first printing/edition of Dashiell Hammett's The Maltese Falcon.

Race Williams is hilariously juvenile stuff, basically Mike Hammer was written by a 13 year old boy. (Hence no gooshy stuff with girls, yuck.) He's basically a more poorly written "hero" version of Wilmer Cook. I don't think I'd want to read all those in a row, but they are quite fun for what they are.

I just checked online about that Wilmer Cook guy, and am flabbergasted to learn that Elisha Cook Jr. once played villains. I'm so used to seeing him in films as a nebbishy sorta-comic relief!

Man, if you're never seen The Maltese Falcon you need to, stat. It's one of the all time great Hollywood classics.
