Monster of the Day #3523

Sorry, I brainfarted on doing this yesterday. So I had another movie lined up for the Watch Party. However, it was on Amazon Prime (which we did on Kast before) and either I had glitch issues or they changed it so you can’t so Prime movies anymore. So less than 15 minutes before show time my original movie was out. So I went to YouTube and grabbed Dinosaurus!, one of my very favorite old dinosaur movies. It’s a kiddie film–the juvenile lead befriends both a brontosaurus and a caveman–but it’s a really fun kiddie movie. I really love this sort of thing.

  • Great flick, marred only by a bout of Irish-phobia early in the show. The stereotype of a drunk Irishman. I mean honestly. Will the vile slanders never cease?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm a case behind in my Guinness. It won't drink itself, after all.

  • Beckoning Chasm

Some of those creatures were truly grotesque and horrifying.
…I mean the ones in the ads that kept showing up, of course.

  • 🐻 bgbear_rnh

The Caterpillar training and safety film I saw did not cover dinosaur fighting.

  • zombiewhacker

Wasn't this from the makers of The Blob?

  • Gamera977

I think Hitachi does have one on dealing with Kaiju.

  • Ken_Begg

Oh, I thought you were complaining about the ridiculous stereotype that an Irishman could hold a job. That's what I was complaining about.

  • Ken_Begg

You got that right! Boy, The Acolyte looks great!

  • Ken_Begg

Which is why nobody watches those things.

  • Ken_Begg

    Yes, same producer, Jack Harris.

  • Hey, man, I worked for Walmart for five years. Five years. A record length! For me. With my other jobs lasting…

    not…

    as long.

  • Kirk Draut

Sometimes reasonable dinosaurs are driven to do unreasonable things…

  • zombiewhacker

Just checked, also the same director, Irvin S. Yeaworth Jr.

This film, The Blob, and The 4D Man. For one bright, shining moment, Yeaworth was quite the triple threat back in the day.

  • Ken_Begg

He never should have gotten into that earth mover after his fifth beer.

  • I recorded this off of TNT's 100% Weird back in '92. 'Twas a worthy addition to my collection with lots and lots watches.

  • RWA

The tyrannosaur's roar became the B-movie equivalent of the Wilhelm Scream. Among the other films it has turned up in: Creature from Haunted Sea, Goliath and the Dragon, Journey to the Seventh Planet, Sound of Horror, Planet on the Prowl, The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini, at least two episodes of The Outer Limits, and it can even be heard in the "Drop of Water" segment of the AIP edit of Black Sunday!

  • Gamera977

I was watching 1998's 'Six-String Samurai' the other night and the same roar was used for the Spinach Monster!!!

BTW: 'SSS' ties with 'The Road Warrior' as my favorite post-apocalypse movie!
