Monster of the Day #3507

The ’80s was the last gasp, really, of the beautiful painted movie posters, especially for horror movies. That’s because modest flicks like this actually could still play in the theaters, and because the burgeoning video rental market allowed for the artwork to be used to real effect. Another little cultural niche that’s basically lost now.

  • This film. It’s almost good, almost fine, then botches it at the end. Though now that I’ve said that, I seem to remember being okay with the end at the time. Whatever.

This is the sort of film you’d grab back when you’d do the Five for Five deal at your local video store back in the day. I’m sure I rented worse stuff.

  • If it had a HOT Sticker on it at our local Pharmor, my parents would have picked it up. We saw so many crap movies that had a HOT sticker.

So what was the Friday watch party special. I may want to suffer it alone or with the cat.

  • Death Dimension. It starred Jim Kelly, George “007” Lazenbey, and Harold “Odd Job” Sakata, with the one and only James Hong stealth starring as Sakata’s voice. It was directed by Al Adamson and was a film that we watched.

    Thanks. Sounds like a film.

For some reason I couldn’t see the chat. Gave up after about twenty mins.

Yikes! Thanks for mentioning it. Anyone else have this issue?

  • Beckoning Chasm

    Worked fine for me.

  • I had no trouble with chat, save no one saw how witty I was. Just how dumb. Which is very much like real life.

My problem was that things never improved with lag or pixelating. The fight scenes for me were static images.

  • That it was. That it was.

I tried two different browsers. I’m wondering now if I had my VPN on and it had something to do with it.
