Monster of the Day #3502

So we ended Monday watching the original Danish cut of Reptilicus. This infamously features the flying Reptilicus, which the American distributors thought looked so silly they cut the footage. Which is saying something, since they actually inserted the hilarious, infamous Terry Gillium-in-Grade-School-esque animation of a farmer being eaten.

Meanwhile, anyone who’s seen the movie understands that the real monster of the film is this guy. In the Danish cut he gets a whole song with a bunch of kiddies where they sing about Reptilicus. If you search “Reptilicus Song” on YouTube you can see the scene with subtitles. Honestly, it’s kind of great.

Again, because of the eclipse I stayed an extra day, as did Chad R, so we rested for the night in preparation for our most movie intensive day yet.

The Danish consider him a comic genius.

I still have never seen this, not sure I’ve got the guts to watch it….

  • Do it. You won’t be sorry.

I just watched the overalls guy with the ‘Tilicus’ song.

    That was… disturbing….

    It’s, well, it’s pretty unique.

I will say that I like the Reptilicus model, just because it’s the only Norse dragon kaiju I’ve ever seen in film.

If you want to ease the suffering, you might want to watch the MST3K version, which last I checked was free for streaming on Amazon Prime.

Oops, sorry, just rechecked, it’s now $3.99 for a Prime “rental.” But still well worth it.
