Monster of the Day #3497

First things first, Friday’s new Watch Party format, using Kast.gg, was a success. Kudos to GalaxyJane for helping me with a technical issue. The one downside is that since I’m sharing me screen, people can apparently actually see me typing my notes, which I’m very awkward at. So there goes my mystic as a mastermind. Anyway, we watched Ship of Monsters and I was glad to introduce it to anyone who hadn’t seen it before. Next Watch Party a week from Friday.

Back to Tween-Fest ’24. So we went to early dinner to avoid all the Eclipse tourists, and then returned to Sandy’s for Chad R’s regular quiz. It was Wizards & Witches, and I did poorly. Basically the more modern the pop culture references are the worse I do. Oh, well.

We opened the evening slate with Jaws the Revenge and it’s levitating giant shark. It’s…not very good. Sandy and presumably others had never seen it before, so that was a good share, I thought.

Sandy hadn’t seen Jaws The Revenge? But you guys did a whole YouTube video about Jaws.

I have “gifted” a viewing of this film upon my kids but took pity on them and fast-forwarded though large stretches of it. Really, this movie is like 85-90% boredom. Ahhh, but that remaining 10%? Absolute Jabootu gold.

After Jane’s help with the main feature, we did not see you typing.

  • This is the fourth greatest Jaws movie of all time! No one can take that away from it. Also, it got Michael Caine a house, keeping him from being homeless. And prevent The Hand from being Caine’s great Horror movie shame. So Jaws: The Revenge has that going for it, too.

Of course, it’s nowhere near the heights that is Jaws 3, but what film is? Certainly not the other two in the series.

Why, I think it’s safe to say that if they were physical places, you couldn’t even see a hint of Jaws 1 or 2 from where 3 is. Double that for Jaws: The Revenge.

  • Killer Meteor

The book of Jaws The Revenge is really good fun – a far bigger body-count and voodoo to boot!

Who wouldn’t love a movie with Michael Caine as Cheesesteak or whatever he was…

  • Ken_Begg

We talked about it, but he hadn’t actually watched it. So many movies, so little time.

  • Ken_Begg

Thank goodness! Everyone knows I’m a clod, they don’t need further evidence of it.

This may be my second favorite (sorta) Peter Benchley movie that Caine appeared in. The first is and will always be The Island.
