Monster of the Day #3445

Sorry, thumbnail wouldn’t take. That happens occasionally. Don’t know why.

Day off, but it’s been frigidly cold all weekend. Water pipes frozen cold, but more importantly still have had power and heat. Back to work tomorrow.  I’ll be running over to a friend’s house later today to at least grab a shower before I return to work tomorrow.

Man, that’s a nice poster. Posters don’t really have the prominence now that they did back in the day, so I’m not sure I ever saw this. The movie was still a frustrating 7 out of 10 in that it was the sort of thing a reasonable intelligent viewer like myself would rewrite in this head as they were watching it, and could have turned it from a 7 to an 8 or 8.5 out of ten with just a bit of revision.  Still enjoyed it, but that kind of movie drives you up the wall. A big part of the problem was their killing of the series’ best characters but keeping far lamer ones in any attempt to fashion the films as a connect universe. Dummies.

Anybody seen anything particularly good or bad of late?

Oh, and Watch Part this Friday? Right? I think that’s right.

Definite thumbs up on “The Boy and the Heron”. You will possibly come out at least partially confused, but in a good way. Really, really good.

Also, finally saw the Cowboy Bebop Movie. Also very recommended.

Take care and good luck with the pipes.

Tomorrow we get back up to like 16 degrees, so between that and the ambient heat from heating my house, I’m hoping they thaw then.

And haven’t burst. That would be nice.

If nothing else–and there’s a lot else–Boy and the Heron is just beautiful to watch. Well worth a theatrical viewing.

  • No movie watching of import this week, but did get to chat with Larry Correia this weekend and get him to sign a book to my dad (In Defense of the 2nd A, my dad claims to dislike all SF and fantasy despite having raised me as a Monster Kid). So that was a Cool Thing.

  • That is a cool thing.

    May your wish be granted.

Aw gosh you’re so lucky GJ! I got to meet Col. Tom Kratman a decade or so ago, he was a pretty cool guy!
