Monster of the Day #3418

Asylum announces their new Miss Marple film.

I may post tomorrow, depending on whether I am organized enough before leaving for the airport. Otherwise I probably won’t post again until Monday or Tuesday. By the way, Godzilla Minus One currently has 24 critic reviews posted at Rotten Tomatoes and has a 100% rating so far. I’m sure someone will eventually give it a negative review, probably just to be different, but so far so good. 100% is pretty good.

Just in case, have a great weekend everyone. Watch something stupid, and, if you have the time and inclination, go see Godzilla Minus One in a theater. We definitely want to support something like that, and it saves you from watching one of the horrible sounding Doctor Who episodes that are coming out.

Watch Party a week from Friday.

The theater nearest to me, a twelve screen multiplex, closed down this summer. Yeah, hard to believe in a summer of “The Flash,” “Indiana Jones,” “The Little Mermaid” and “Elemental” that they could just close up shop, but some things just can’t be predicted.

Man, imagine all the hundreds of millions of dollars those each lost. Had to be nearly a billion all together. Yikes!

27 reviews for Godzilla Minus One and still 100% Fresh. Won’t last, of course. Shin Godzilla, a masterpiece that won Best Picture in Japan, has an 86% rating. That’s 7% better than Black Widow. There was a Black Widow movie. In theaters. Remember?

Safe travels Ken and hope you guys have fun. Wish I were there with you.

I don’t know how true it is, but according to some Disney-watchers the Mouse lost something like $500 billion this year, which doesn’t sound possible to me despite a ton of bad decisions with the movies and the parks.

And have a fun trip, Ken!

  • Gamera977

Yeah couldn’t happen to a nicer set of jerks.

Found out a local theater is showing ‘Godzilla: Minus One’ so I’m hoping to see it next week.

A lot of that is because they are losing their shirt on their streaming service. There are too many services, and just as with their movies, spending $200 million on, say, The Secret Invasion show (or a ton of other expensive Marvel or Star Wars or Doctor Who shows) that fail to draw eyeballs, much less subscriptions, is perhaps the biggest problem they have.

The $500 billion figure, though, I believe is due to the fact that their stock price has basically fallen 50% since last year. Meaning the company is “worth” $500 billion less than in 2022.

Don’t harsh on my mellow, man.

And it’s not just Disney. WotC (Wizards of the Coast) maker of Dungeons & Dragons has been on a tear insulting their own customers. Including one of their public relations guys saying that he can’t wait till all the white men leave gaming.

Well, I picked up the DragonLance boxed set for 5th edition they released about a year ago for over a hundred bucks US at Ollie’s for $9.99. And a box of cool terrain pieces that sold for over fifty for $2.99.

So how’s all the hate and bigotry working out for you WotC?

  • Eric Hinkle

I heard about WoTC going full jackass, but not how badly it was hurting them.

  • Eric Hinkle

Good to have you back, Ken! I hope you enjoyed the trip.
