I have the feeling the cover artist was short of time, and could either on the lady or the bat. He probably knew his audience. (And I’m assuming he did the Jim Mooney thing where he painted her nude and then painted the negligee over her.)

    There’s a bat in the painting??????

    When I was looking at this at breakfast on my little phone screen I didn’t even notice it was a bat. I just saw the face behind the rather fetching young lady, it’s only looking at it on the big PC monitor that I can clearly see the wings.

    I’ve read a few collections of these ‘Spicy’ stories. It can be funny and sometimes a little sad to see what was considered to be ‘the hot stuff’ back then. Those stories wouldn’t raise an eyebrow even at a grade school library these days.

    One time my friend Jeff and I were watching Monster at Camp Sunshine–as one does–and he legitimately at one point mournfully noted, “This is what my dad had for porn.”

    I remember my parents once telling me about a local bar that used to show ‘smoker flicks’ after-hours to friends of the friends of the owner. They mostly remembered everyone laughing them to scorn.
