Monster of the Day #3360

Things ended, not with the traditional giant monster movie (although there had been several of those during the morning), but with a Corman ‘classic,’ Beast of Haunted Cave. Of course, the economical Corman later remade the film as Creature of the Haunted Sea, made briefly famous when it’s monster appeared in the opening for Malcolm in the Middle.

So that was the end of B-Fest. Tomorrow we’ll start examining what the rest of us were doing that weekend.

This is one of those where I’d really like to have had a better look at the monster. I mean, I’m sure it looked terrible, but….

I wondered what it was supposed to be. Some sort of giant spider?

  • The Rev.

I think that’s a fair guess. It has long arachnoid legs and kind of a spidery shape and uses webs to trap people. Granted, it seems intelligent, and appears to suck blood from victims, so it’s not a proper giant spider…

I just realized it might be Atlach-Nacha. Or maybe one of its spawn since it’s smaller and rather easily defeated.

Atlach-Nacha or its spawn? Now I can watch it with a greater sense of amusement given that I like the lesser known Great Old Ones. Thanks!
