Monster of the Day #3234

Even in Japan the posters for Warning from Space (this is art from a DVD release, but its from an old poster) basically lied about the film. (aka “ballyhoo”) In the movie the aliens are man-sized and a neutral grey.  Here they are a threatening red and, it’s suggested, quite large. All the saucers also indicate an alien invasion. Is this every smart? What happens when someone buys a ticket for one promised film and gets another one entirely?

That poster is so crowded, I wouldn’t know what to expect. To its credit, at least there aren’t any explosions. That would be an unkept promise too far.

The aliens also look like they are flying.

What is that kite/umbrella thing in the upper left corner?

I was thinking it were a Hardees/Carl’s Jr. ad. Other than the cyclopian single eye I’d swear they were The Famous Hardees’ Star.

Many or most of the Japanese sci-fi posters from that period are like that. Look at the various Godzilla movies posters.

Yes, it’s like a sci-fi video for Tom Petty’s Free Falling.

Well, if they wanted a good commercial to get ME to go….
