Monster of the Day #3060

I have to troll a bit deeper to find monster movies on YouTube these days, I didn’t get to it yesterday. So let’s pop over to Amazon Prime. They recently added Dogora the Space Monster, certainly one of the more obscure Toho dai kaiju films. As a kid it was pretty disappointing for its general lack of monster action. As an adult, the mix of giant monster and crime drama can be pretty fun. Check it out.

I found it on Amazon Prime and watched it for the first time a month or so ago. Okay film, not great, not terrible. The secret weakness of the monster did strike me as kinda an odd choice. I won’t ruin it for anyone who’s not seen it but how often is the giant Asian murder hornet the solution to your problem?!?

Did they reuse this effect for Suicide Squad?

I just saw this one and I admit, I wish it had more monster action. That or more Akiko Wakabayashi. Wow. What a gorgeous lady.

I liked it well enough. Beeware of falling rocks.

I assume gangster action is cheaper than monster action.

  • I watched it. It was okay. I kinda wish the monster had remained a whole entity, but hey! Can’t have everything.
