Monster of the Day #2000

2000! Holy crow.

Man, there is like nothing that came out in 2000. Final Destination is the biggie, but there’s no monster there. So…pulp cover!

    The Year the Monsters Died.

  • Kirk

Godzilla 2000 came out on my birthday in 2000.

  • Eric Hinkle

That one looks like the bats from the issue of The Spider – MASTER OF MEN! in which he faced ‘the Bat-Man’.

One especially gruesome scene has the giant killer bats attacking the crowds in Times Square. We see a woman with a baby carriage fighting a horde of the bats off at one moment. Then the next, she’s on the ground with the bats at her throat and three more are in the carriage and quite obviously feeding. I don’t know how they got away with that back then.

  • Blake

    Pitch Black?

  • The Rev.

Also Ginger Snaps and Shadow of the Vampire, but I feel like he’s featured those before, along with the PB beasties.

He could’ve featured a monster from, I dunno, Faust: Love of the Damned or Killjoy or Drainiac, and quality be damned because it’s Jabootu, after all.

  • Gamera977

Where did all the monsters go in 2000?

    Only The Shadow knows….

    YES, I’ll go there!!!

  • Rock Baker

The Shadow vs The Devil Bat! I’d watch that one…

  • CFKane

    Congratulations on reaching MotD #2000!

  • Ken_Begg

Good monster movie, so I guess I could have featured Orga. I should have broadened my search past horror movies.

  • Ken_Begg

Meh. Mileage varies, I understand, but not particularly interesting monsters.

  • Ken_Begg

Also how many words of articles I’ve written in the same time!

  • The Rev.

I did like the design; kind of hammerhead pterodactyls. About all they had going for them, though.

Draniac had some fun critters, particularly the stop-motion ones.

  • The Rev.

Did you not do Orga before? I would’ve thought you’d done all the Godzilla monsters by now.

  • Ken_Begg

I kinda have let that originals only thing go, with with two thousand (!) of these and many of the older ones gone because of having used old storage sites like Photobucket and etc.
