Man, pretty much everything was sequels back in 1991.
This, however, was RIGHT in my wheelhouse. They eventually made a sequel to this, too…the first sequel movie HBO had ever made…and completely screwed it up by recasting Ward with Dennis Hopper. (????) Also it was a whole McCarthy thing which BORING. And moving the classic PI character to the ’50s makes no sense anyway. Still, this is pretty great. I think it’s on Amazon Prime, too.
