Monster of the Day #1693

Here’s the IP that ‘inspired’ the upcoming Rock wants-to-be blockbuster and franchise tentpole.

I mean, it’s kind of crazy, right? Or is it me?

  • Gamera977

Thanks Ken, now I really want to play the game again…

And crazy? I’ve seen weirder stuff. Better a series based off this than the emoji movie.

  • Ericb

    The Geico Cavemen TV series

  • The Rev.

Is it crazy because it’s a nigh-storyless video game? Just gives them license to do whatever. This seems as good a time as any to attempt it, as well. I’m not saying it’ll be any good, but stranger things have happened.

I wonder which system this is from. I know it’s not the Atari because I had that, but it was on quite a few so that’s about as good as I can do. (The arcade version looks a lot better.)

  • Gamera977

Hmmm, I didn’t pay that much attention to the photo but you’re right, definitely not the arcade version. I was thinking it was maybe the Commodore 64 or Atari 400/800 but a reverse image search came up with the NES.

  • Kirk

I’m actually looking forward to this one. I hope it does well enough for an all-female cinematic adaptation of Space Invaders. I bet Melissa McCarthy would sign on for it.

  • Rock Baker

I do remember that as a monster movie-obsessed kid, I thought the video game could be adapted into a pretty cool flick with minimal wear and tear. Of course, I was imaging guys in monster suits trampling around a miniature city…

  • Gamera977

Or even Frogger. PETA could write a plot about the evil US auto industry and animal murder on the highways.

  • Marsden

It is crazy, but not with “Hollywood logic”
