I wonder if this was some story about the Yezidees, the ‘Devil Worshipers of Kurdistan’? Price usually went in for tales of the ‘Weird Orient’ like that.

I guess it’s a good thing when evil monsters are under-nourished. Gives the potential victim an edge when fleeing.
