Looking good for Cubs, trying for play-off tickets tomorrow…

The Brewers looked like they were going to get another of their trademark come-from-behind wins against the Braves today, until a devastating bobble on a patent double-play ball cost them the game. Meanwhile, we had won earlier in the day. (The Fox sportscaster mentioned that so often that even *I* got sick of hearing about it.)

We’ve now a 2.5 game lead, and our magic number is six. It is possible to blow a lead like that, but it would be a debacle on the scale of what we did in 2004. Even the Cubs don’t blow ’em that all the time. With a combined 15 games left (Cubs & Brewers both), all we need to do is win three of seven, and have Milwaukee drop three of their last eight. Obviously we’re looking pretty good.

Less good are my chances of scoring tickets for a play-off game tomorrow; I figure they are literally a thousand-to-one or more. But hey, you gotta try.

In any case, Go Cubs!!

There was never any doubt. It’s the Gubs!

Sucks that you might not get tickets. The line will extend halfway to Comiskey, I’ll bet. You’ll have to show up at 5 am just to have a shot.

**shrug** Pretend you’re an amputee or somethin’. Someone’ll take pity on you and let you ahead of them.

  • As I posted before: 2015, that’s your year. You’ll also get a new Jaws movie that will make a good offering to the Great Old One Jabootu. He’s eldritch, dontcha know?

This reminds me of that Mike Nelson quip from “The Beginning of the End”:

“The Cubs don’t win the Pennant! The Cubs don’t win the Pennant!”
