Monster of the Day #940

This looks like one of the ’70s TV music numbers where they keep superimposing different views of the singer on top of one another.

Either that, or it’s a training montage from a demon version of Rocky, with the large face being the hectoring Burgess Meredith figure.

    I was thinking 70s too:

    People
let me tell you ’bout my best friend,

He’s a cold hearted monster who’ll kill me in the the end.

People let me tell you bout my best friend,

He’s demon, kills men, pick me up, throw me down, he’ll kill me in the end.

I was a little dubious about crossing ‘Rocky’ with ‘The Omen’ at first but ‘Horny’ (1979) here was a pretty good film. Who can forget the training montage of Horny bench pressing victims, punching the carcasses of human sacrifices, and running up the steps of Mordor punching his fists in the air all to the stirring theme of ‘(You’re) Going to Die Now’?
The original of Horny training to fight the world’s champion ‘Hades’ Creed was pretty cool but I preferred the later films like ‘Horny III’ where he fights Mister T as ‘Clubber’ van Helsing. Remember his great lines like ‘Don’t want to hear no demon jibber-jabber!’ and ‘I pity tha monster, pity tha monster!’
And ‘Horny IV’ where the Vatican turns paladin Sir Drago into the ultimate holy terror! ‘His fists are holy avengers!!!’ says trainer Sister Ludmilla. And his great line: ‘I…must..break…evil…’
    What a series!!!

Such a heartwarming song! Dare we to ask what it would look like if done in rap?

Now why can’t Hollywood make films like that?

My own desire would be to see ‘Sabbath Night Fever’, where demons possess the innocent and turn them into disco dancers for Lucifer.

So, did he never really LOOK at his friend to see he was a horned, hairy monster? Or was this one of those internet things where they finally meet in person :)

  • Flangepart

Hummm…why does the guy about to get a throw down remind me of Roddy McDowell?

  • Rock Baker

Does this remind anyone else of the gargoyle from that episode of Johnny Quest?

  • Eric Hinkle

Hey, it does sort of look like him. I wonder if this one is Norway’s ‘second’ greatest acrobatic dwarf?

Beg pardon, Mister Begg, but right now TCM is having a really big sale on a lot of their SF and fantasy movies; the two-DVD set of Forbidden Planet is going for 52% off, to name just one example. Some folks might want to take a look and see if their favorite title is going cheaply.

They made that movie. It’s called Staying Alive.
