Monster of the Day #933

We haven’t done ’80s monster movies in a while, so….

Okay, I’m looking forward to learning the name of this one.

Oscar the Grouch out of his garbage can is much bigger than you think. Pity the host who forgets the letter of the day.

For once I have to agree with those clowns at PETA: fur is murder!

  • Flangepart

    Are you done? Not Yeti!

  • Night of the Demon. Not to be confused with the Jacques Tourneur flick.

(This, incidentally, I had to look up. My first guess was Shriek of the Mutilated.)

  • Eric Hinkle

Thanks for the title,. Back when we still had local video places that film always seemed to be on the shelves.

It’s up on YouTube. It’s highly sleazy and grossly violent. You know those Slim Jim “Messing with Bigfoot” commercials? It’s like those, only you don’t have to mess with him; he’ll just reach up and tear your arm off. The gore effects are lovingly filmed at length and fall into the “unconvincing but highly enthusiastic” catagory. This was one of the films on the infamous Video Nasties roster, and one that actually deserved to be there.

Not sure if I’ll give this a go or not but I did find R.O.T.O.R. in it’s entirety on YouTube. And it’s everything you said it was Ken and more…

  • Eric Hinkle

    Ah. Thanks for the information.

However, given that I have a choice between this and the Karloff/Price/Rathbone version of ‘Tower of London’, I think I’ll go with Mord and Richard first.

Wow, now just imagine ToL being redone in “modern:” fashion with tons of CGI, wire work, and buckets of gore everywhere.

I generally like Bigfoot movies, but I’ve always figured this was one I could miss.

DAMMIT the one time I don’t post a guess and I’m right! I haven’t even seen this (which makes no sense as I like gory movies) and yet it was the first thing I thought of as far as ’80s Bigfoot movies.

The second one I think of I’m not sure Ken’s used, but it’d provide a couple of MotDs if he went there.

R.O.T.O.R. is glorious. We had so much fun with that at a past T-Fest.
