Calling the SyFy Channel, Part 8,497….

Good grief.

  • Gamera977

    That has to be Photoshopped… because if it’s not… I’m terrified…

    WTH is it!?!! A capybara?

  • bgbear_rnh

I looks like a type of tree kangaroo but, I have never seen one that big.

  • Gamera977

Yeah, a wombat – that’s it. Not sure why I was thinking it’s a capybara or nutria.

  • Ericb

This is real though in the video I found he’s doesn’t appear quite a huge does in these photos. I’d link to it but then the post wouldn’t make it through.

  • Gamera977

I’m beginning to think that may be the mysterious Drop-Ape or Drop-Bear. Thanks- I bet a websearch will turn up the video clip.

  • Ericb

It’s just from an article about a 27 year old wombat. Look up largest wombat and it should turn up.

  • bgbear_rnh

No matter how cute the furry mammal, there must be a point where he is to big for a “squee” reaction.

  • Flangepart

And that means we are all now obligated to think ‘NIGHT OF THE LEPUS.’ Which I’m sure ya’ll did too.

  • Rock Baker

So, a giant hamster, basically. My first question upon seeing an animal of such size: Is the meat any good? You could feed a family of four for a week on one of these!

  • bgbear_rnh

Capybaras are more the “giant hamsters” or more a giant guinea pig.

This marsupial wombat apparently had a 7,000 lb relative at one time. Now that is getting into the sc-fi channel range.

  • Rock Baker

My comment was based fully on looks. I’m no zoologist.

  • bgbear_rnh

Just taking my turn at playing Mr. Literal ;)

  • Eric Hinkle

“You could feed a family of four for a week on one of these!”

That’s what it thinks when it looks at you!

  • Eric Hinkle

I so hope this is a photoshop. But if not, let me be the first to welcome our new wombat overlords.

  • kevzero

Leonard Nimoy is…. Night of the Capybara!

  • Flangepart

    BATMAN Vs. WOMBAT MAN!

  • Andrew Kidd

They need to stop playing Ramones music in Australian high schools.
