What the bleedin’ hell?

From Friend of Jabootu Kirk Draut comes this amazing link about *another* sad clown in a concentration camp movie.  The film mentions two previous such, including Jerry Lewis’ unfinished masterwork The Day the Clown Cried (the Moby Dick of the Bad Movie world), but doesn’t count in the thematically similar Robin Williams feature Jacob the Liar.  So it’s four such movies, actually.

I remember reading an article once, can’t remember where, but it was about how there had in fact been a few attempts at doing another version of The Day the Clown Cried after Jerry’s never came out. Thankfully (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), none of them ever went into production. I have to say, though, that if they’d done one with Tiny Tim as the clown, I probably would’ve been all over that.

    Clowns belong in horror movies.

I’d say a clown in a concentration camp would be pretty horrific. Ilsa or werewolf women, on the other hand…

Turkish Spock: IIRC, one of the stars attached to that version of The Day the Clown Cried? William Hurt.

    Think about that.
