Monster of the Day #605

Man, these octopi need some H/R classes, fast.

So it is Cheesecake Octopus Week on MotD?

  • Ken_Begg

Not sure I can find five shots that specific (that I haven’t already used!), but we’ll see.

  • Flangepart

Looks like. Not that I’m complaining, mind you…

  • Beckoning Chasm

It looks like the guy with the spear is also trying to kill the woman. Which means maybe the octopus is trying to save her!

  • Ken_Begg

I think this is your basic slasher movie. Girl is making out with her octopus boyfriend, psychokiller shows up…

  • The French have a word for her! I bet it’s “Ooooooh la lahhhhhhhhhh!”

As to the art itself, that blonde looks familiar. Granted, such a pose would be in file photos for cover artists, but I’m almost sure I saw a similar pose on a movie poster. (Maybe flipped so she was slumped over a railing or something?)

I actually have some old Men’s magazines–adventure ones, I mean, like this.
None with killer animals on them; I’m sure those cost a lot more. Some
day I may buy a scanner and do some pieces on those, and maybe all the Marvel omnibuses I keep accumulating.

Would it be tacky to have a $50 kickstarter to buy a scanner? Or is that what they cost? Those little handheld ones.

Oh, and a $8 kickstarter to buy a double cheeseburger basket at Culver’s.

  • I found a couple of adventure mags in flea market many, many years ago. Spectacular cover art (the one I recall most vividly depicted a tiger hunt). Even had some cheesecake spreads (I remember a doll rolling around in tall weeds and they had painted in extra reeds to protect her modesty -or at least protect it’s space on the magazine rack from being elevated). I think the dates were around 1963 or so. Man, I wish I’d picked those up!

I wonder what the four legged horrors were ?

  • I’m glad to see I’m not the only one wondering if that guy is trying to bejabbber the octopus or the girl.

  • Petoht

    Weasels. They’ll rip your flesh.

  • Cats.

Mike Nelson’s trained octopus helps him “rescue” yet another buxom blond!
